WARREN M.
SEIGEL, MD, FAAP, FSAM
Dr. Warren Seigel is a New York
native and is currently the Chairman of Pediatrics and
Director of Adolescent Medicine at Coney Island Hospital,
Brooklyn, NY. He is an Associate Professor of Clinical
Pediatrics at SUNY-Health Science Center at Brooklyn.
Board certified in both Pediatrics and Adolescent Medicine,
he completed his residency and Fellowship at The Brookdale
Hospital and Medical Center, Brooklyn, NY after receiving
his medical degree from Universidad CETEC, Dominican
Republic.
A
past president of the Brooklyn Pediatric Society and Chapter
2, Dr. Seigel currently serves as the CATCH facilitator for
Brooklyn and Queens, is chair of the Past Presidents'
Council, and is an active member of the Committee on Youth
and Adolescence. He has testified before both House
and Senate in Washington DC advocating for increased access
to primary health care services.
He
continues to be an active member of District II and has been
the liaison to MSSNY for the past 8 years serving on their
Public Health committee, and is the chair of the District's
revenue enhancement committee.
Well
known for his advocacy on behalf of primary care
pediatricians, and universal access to comprehensive health
care services for patients of all ages in a medical home,
Dr. Seigel serves on the national AAP's Executive Committee
for the Section on Adolescent Health (SOAH), is the Chair of
the Membership Committee for SOAH, and is a member of the
National Committee on Adolescence (COA).

Sheila Palevsky,
MD, MPH, FAAP
Originally from New Hyde Park, NY, Dr. Sheila Palevsky is
a graduate of the University of Pittsburgh School of
Medicine. After two years at Children's Memorial
Hospital (Chicago), she returned to New York and completed
her pediatric residency in primary care at Montefiore
Medical Center. Dr. Palevsky received her MPH from
Columbia University School of Public Health.
For nearly 20 years, Dr. Palevsky was a primary care
pediatrician with a focus on urban health issues and
foster care. In 2000, she joined the Bureau of
Immunization at the New York City Department of Health and
Mental Hygiene. She holds faculty appointments in
Pediatrics at New York University School of Medicine and
in Public Health at the Weill Cornell Medical College.
Within the AAP, Dr. Palevsky is the immediate past
president New York Chapter 3. As a member of the District
II Task Force on Foster Care she helped write Fostering
Health: Health Care for Children and Adolescents in Foster
Care. She is a member of the Section on
Administration and Practice Management and Section on
Epidemiology, serves as the Chapter 3 Immunization
Representative and District II Immunization Liaison, and
participates in the Committee on Environmental
Health. A Fellow of The New York Academy of
Medicine, she serves as Chair of the Section on
Pediatrics; she is on the Advisory Board of Reach Out and
Read of Greater New York.
Dr. Palevsky has been involved in promoting the AAP; she
hopes that as part of the National Nominating Committee
she can continue to encourage participation and leadership
in the Academy.
